There are experiences in this world that truly captures the heart. Moments that will leave you breathless and brings smile to your face when remembered. Such thing happened to us during our 2-night stay in Shangri-La Dubai. A luxury property located in the heart of the city known for its spectacular views, contemporary facilities, renowned restaurants and most of all – unparalleled hospitality. In short, this was not just any stay in a hotel. It’s one of the few unforgettable experiences we will surely cherish. Let us take you to our stay experience, shall we?
The hotel is an experience the minute you walked into its door. Welcoming concierge dressed in vivid red greet us as we make our way through the opulent lobby of the Shangri-La Dubai. After the swift check-in, I can’t help but be amaze over the reception backdrop full of books, immaculate marble floors and walls, stunning huge glass copper chandeliers and beautiful floral displays. It all looks grand and sophisticated with gold accents.
As anyone could expect from a five star luxury hotel, the room was very comfortable with all the amenities designed to have a relaxing stay. But what made Shangri-La outshine the rests was its attention to details – fresh flowers, complimentary bowl of fruits and generous portion of sweets, plenty of hangers, two bathrobes and slippers available which is really nice as the previous hotels will only have one available in the rooms. Meditative postcards are smartly added which is our first time to experience in a hotel. And the whole room apart from the bathroom of course are fully carpeted which is really great as my husband don’t usually wear his slippers!
We stayed in the newly renovated Premier Room with panoramic views overlooking the Burj Khalifa. While there are a plethora of hotel options available in Dubai, it’s worth noting that there are not many that offer such striking views of Burj Khalifa. Apart from the amazing view where I spent most of my time doing IG stories :), the room also had a full-size executive writing desk which significantly designed for business travelers.
The room interior is as grand as the public areas of the hotel with no detail overlooked. Designed with unique curve features, beautiful wall art pieces, neutral and contemporary décor, the 45sqm deluxe room looks extremely spacious, elegant and very modern with touch screen panels, automatic window blinds. Plenty of natural light are coming into the room when opened the blinds. It was fully equipped with a well-stocked mini-bar and we had a comfortable large king size bed.
The bathroom was roomy too, with a deep soaking tub, crispy mint premium toiletries and a lovely walk-in rain-forest shower. As expected, Jeremiah spent most of his time in the bath tub 🙂 Dental kits were readily available. I have to mention that toothbrush are made of soft bristles. The quality and luxury were clearly oozing in every corner of the room.
Foodies who visit the hotel are certainly spoiled when it comes to the dining options. The Shangri-La Dubai is home to seven restaurants and bars (yes, SEVEN!) so you can expect that there’s something here to satisfy almost every craving and mood. Meet clients over coffee or tea, drop by for a light lunch or celebrate a special occasion with their featured authentic cuisines.
IKandy Lounge – Pool Bar
During our first night, we settled for a refreshing cocktail and delicious light bites at the signature poolside iKandy lounge where we admired the Burj Khalifa standing tall above the bar. While the lounge looks calm with the outdoor pool in the morning it turned livelier at night with live DJ sets and a variety of shishas. The poolside water is illuminated with purple and pink combinations adding more vibrant to the place.

Dunes Café – All Day Dining
Dunes Café is Shangri-La’s all day dining restaurant. Trying it out for two day breakfasts, surely it did not disappoint. We were surprised with the sumptuous buffet offerings and how some of the menu was changed the next day! Really, it’s rare to find such kind of initiative here or even outside the country. And with its large gorgeous setting, who wouldn’t want to dine here? 🙂
Wide selections of local and international mouth-watering dishes are readily available but if you prefer something else, their world class chefs are more than willing to create your perfect breakfast dish. Live stations provide guests the fun option of customising order which is my favorite part of any buffet. While the selection is unimaginable, my heart goes to the noodles and dimsum station while the husband loved the selection of international cuisines. It’s one of the best we’ve ever had!

Shangri-La hotels signature restaurant that you can find in other branches in the world serves up a delightful taste of traditional Cantonese cuisine. We’re so glad to finally try it last weekend and experience what other people are raving about.
From the lovely ambiance to the food which were astonishingly good and perfectly presented, the professional yet warm staff – our dining experience at the restaurant was one of a kind. I think this has to be our new favourite restaurant in Dubai. I have to dedicate another post so I can share you guys all the details!

Staff and Service
Apart from the incredible views, the luxurious room and facilities, delicious food, what made our stay comfortable and unforgettable were the staff of Shangri-La. The warm treatment of all the Shangri-La staff was evident from the moment we checked in to the day we left. After checking in, we were assisted by the lovely Ms. Anca to our room and she gladly explained all the amenities. It’s rare to find such gesture so we were very impressed.
During breakfast at Dunes Café, the Chefs visit every table, staff would clean plates immediately, but what truly impressed us were Joy and Imie who were very accommodating and friendly. Also in Shang Palace restaurant, all were so kind yet professional especially Alex and the lovely manager.
Every staff we met in the hotel are always on hand, approachable and responds to requests quickly. It may be in the reception, restaurant, pool, gym, spa, anywhere you’ll be greeted with a kind smile. Unquestionably, the unparalleled hospitality and service was an added key how the luxurious hotel has been on top of the line and recognized around the world. Thanks to the wonderful team of Shangri-La hotel in Dubai 🙂
