Staycation in the UAE are becoming more popular as ever. Given the kind of life here “work-home” routine, many people choose to enjoy some time off but skip the hassle of planning a travel vacation. Besides, traveling involves spending most of the time in a particular destination which often means staying in hotels but not really enjoying its facilities. That’s when staycations get in the scene! To relax and truly enjoy of what a hotel can offer.
After a month long of traveling to Europe, we crave the luxury of being able to slow down, kick back and relax. So imagine our delight on discovering the Villa Rotana one weekend, it was an affordable option along the expensive line of hotels in Sheikh Zayed Road near Dubai Mall. Who says you need to go to a fancy resort to have a great staycation? Here’s how we’ve enjoyed our stay, the Villa Rotana way 🙂
King and Queen Treatment
From having someone to valet park the car, polite staff who wanted to carry our bags (but we refused as they’re not heavy), pressing the elevator button, making up our room and one call for everything we need! The advantage of checking into a hotel known for its excellent service, you’ll be treated like a King or Queen. Even for a short time, I’ve got to skip my wifely household chores 🙂
Burj Khalifa Room View
You’d probably know how much we love rooms with a good view so when we saw our classic studio room with the Burj Khalifa view – we danced! 🙂 This is their basic room out of 118 yet we got an amazing view. What more if it’s a Premium or a Burj suite? The Villa Rotana takes their room views seriously as apart from the Burj Khalifa, they also have the vibrant City Walk view or the classy Atrium view. Exploring the hotel grounds, we’ve got spectacular sights of Dubai skyline and the world’s tallest tower.
Fresh Linens, Comfy Bed, Bath Tub
Another thing we look forward to in a hotel stay is the bed. It always feels good to sleep in those white, fresh pillows and bed linens. Villa Rotana comfortable bed literally made my husband fell asleep twice in the afternoon! And when he woke up, he enjoyed his time in the bath tub (his favorite thing in a hotel!) 🙂 I’m a light sleeper though but with the blackout curtains and no sound to disturb, I also enjoyed taking an afternoon nap. But I made sure to alarm since I wanted to blog about our previous travels. Glad to find a working desk.
The contemporary style of the hotel, room and its amenities certainly gives a refreshing setting for relaxation. Other amenities available are coffee/tea making facilities and mini bar placed in the equipped kitchenette, multichannel satellite television, IDD service, personal in-room safe. Services offered are: laundry and dry-cleaning service, daily housekeeping service and babysitting services (upon request).
Pool Dip with Burj Khalifa View
Summer in the UAE is scorching hot especially in the month of June to August but it didn’t stop us from taking a dip in Villa Rotana’s pool. Ask me why? It’s temperature-controlled and the view from here was unbeatable! Hello again – Burj Khalifa, Water Canal and #myDubai! Make sure to order a refreshing drink from the hotel’s pool bar so when you get out of the water, you won’t be toasted: p
Romantic Dinner Date at Moka Café
Getting dressed up for a sumptuous dinner sounds like a romantic date to us. Although, the Villa Rotana has only one restaurant – the Moka Café, they made sure that it can cater all taste buds. May it be Arabic, Italian or international cuisines – the Villa Rotana surely provides delicious treat just like what we have during our whole stay. We could tell how they carefully chosen the Chef as the food (especially the steak and biryani!) are cooked to perfection!
Delicious Breakfast at Moka Café
The breakfast serves mainly Arabic courses and continental favorites such as baked beans, hash browns, sausages, omelettes with cold cuts, bread and salad section, dessert corner. In the morning, we loved how the ample natural light of the café gives the dining space a warm appeal.
Superb In Room Dining
Dining in the comfort of your room, anyone? Yes please! The Villa Rotana knows how to pamper its guests with their superb in-room dining service. We choose to have an Italian lunch date just because we miss Italy so much! And who can say no to pizza and pasta, along with fish and chips, toblerone cheesecake, refreshing milkshakes, sorry if I made you hungry 🙂 I was definitely not counting calories on staycation and neither should you!
Fully Equipped Gym/Sauna & Jacuzzi
While we haven’t really use the gym, we wanted to inform those gym enthusiasts out there that every Rotana property has the Bodylines Fitness and Wellness Club – an outstanding facility where you can work out with their fully equipped gym or just de-stress in one of the sauna or Jacuzzi.
Warm and Professional Staff
With every Rotana stay, we look forward to the new people and friends to meet (some keep in touch with us! :)) As always, the warm hospitality and excellent service were consistent from easy check in up to saying our goodbyes. Staff from the restaurant, the Chef, the housekeeping department, the friendly lifeguards and the kind Filipino who setup the in-room dining – all made our stay a relaxing one. Despite the fact that the hotel is on 98% occupancy when we asked a staff, they are quick and warm in doing their jobs. Thank you guys! 🙂
You can tell that we definitely had a great staycation sharing all the things we’ve enjoyed in the Villa Rotana. While the hotel can be an option for a relaxing staycation, it can also be a perfect fit for leisure travelers for its great location – its just 20-minute drive from Dubai International Airport, opposite side of the metro train (Business Bay station) and one station away from Dubai mall.
*Thanks to the wonderful team of Villa Rotana for hosting us, opinions as always are entirely our own.
