Staycations in Dubai is becoming like a staple in most weekends or holidays for expats and locals alike. Being in the city boosting with beautiful hotels, sometimes it is hard to pick the best one. But with budget consideration, location preference or amenities available in a hotel – one can narrow down the choices into one that fits such factors.
After our short holiday trip to India, we felt the need for another relaxing staycation. We will not lie, our India trip was amazing but it was also exhausting because of the travel time from one city to another. The opportunity came to stay in one of the 5 star luxurious hotel along Sheikh Zayed road – the Millennium Plaza Hotel. And we can’t be more than thankful for the chill staycation we had in the hotel. Here are the things we love about Millennium Plaza Hotel 🙂
1. The Location
Even though the city of Dubai have wide roads, traffic every Thursday evening is pretty unpleasant. In this case, we opt to ride the Metro station going to the hotel. The hotel is perfectly located literally few steps from Dubai Metro Emirates Towers station. You’d probably know by now that location is everything for us.
The hotel’s lobby was a little outdated with dim lights. But it is currently having a renovation so I guess it was not only us who noticed the feel and setting of the lobby. Check in was swift with Herman who we thought is a Filipino! We felt a little off at first as he wasn’t speaking in our language only to find out that he’s Indonesian. Sorry Herman 🙂
2. The Room Window View at 57th Floor
On the same day we stayed, we called the hotel to ask if they can transfer us to another room which is facing the Burj Khalifa. They’re so accommodating to grant our request in a short notice. Thank you so much Ms. Josephine and Mr. Arun! You guys are awesome 🙂 As soon as we entered our room, with the assistance of Kabayan John who was very accommodating and kind – we can’t contain our oohhs and ahhhs when he pulled the window curtains. It was only that moment when we saw Dubai city lights at a higher vantage point after 7 years! Shame on us, haha…
Our bed was actually a twin bed which was combined in the middle as there was no available room with a good view but still fine. Besides, we requested on the same day only. I can’t believe that the hotel was mostly occupied given that there are 398 rooms and suites spread in 65-storey tower! The beds are comfortable but I don’t like its soft pillows. As I’ve mentioned before, I always asked for neck pillow which the hotel is missing.
But still I manage to do this pose in the morning with less sleep 🙂 Waking up in this view made me don’t wanna leave and have breakfast first! So the husband starve a bit while waiting for me :p
3. The Bathroom and BATHTUB
Besides the spacious room, the hotel’s bathroom was also roomy. It felt like it was another room! There’s a glass separator with doors between the shower room and toilet. The bathroom is equipped with complete toiletries made from Italy, Marie Danielle brand. And the sink was so cute! I like the same design for my future bathroom 🙂
While the husband spends more than hour, guess where? In the BATHTUB! Yes, this man loves to swim in bathtubs more than swimming pools, haha :p I cannot blame him as the tub was big enough for his tall physique plus there’s a divider wherein you can open and see the view from the window! Gosh! He felt like a King for a short time 🙂
4. The Breakfast
Enough of watching cars from our window, the husband is already starving that we decided to go to Metro restaurant where the buffet breakfast happens. It was the same restaurant I celebrated my birthday. Compared to our last visit, the air-conditioning wasn’t that good or maybe because the place was already crowded when we arrived. Also, it was the same look as before with green chairs, white walls, everything looks simple yet functional here. With the buffet spread, there’s a good range of options from Middle Eastern to international Western cuisines that delights our taste buds 🙂
5. The Infinity Pool
The hotel’s infinity pool is situated in the 12th floor. We chose to sit for some time in one of the lounge chairs and enjoy the view. The weather was a bit colder now here in Dubai but the swimming pool is temperature controlled so guests can still enjoy a dip here. There was a small pool for kids connected with the main pool which is perfect for families with small children.
Our staycation at Millennium Plaza was indeed a memorable one. The city view from our room was the best thing we love about the hotel. And of course the convenient location which is perfect for leisure and business travelers made it to our list of must-stay hotels in Dubai. Can’t wait for another staycation this weekend! Stay tuned guys! 🙂
