Our first family trip in the Philippines was in Palawan, looking for an accommodation I opt to book in a nearby hotel from the airport so the elders can rest instantly. Aziza seemed to fit the bill. Upon arrival the Aziza hotel it looked pretty nice, the pool, the fountains, basically everything. Check in process was fast, warm welcomed from the staff is a great way to ease the tiredness from our journey.

Location

The 4-star Aziza Paradise Hotel is a 20-minute drive from Puerto Princesa International Airport. Location is off the main road so in a way, it’s exclusive. It is close to commercial and banking institutions but quite far (about 20 minutes) from the downtown area which makes it hard and costly for guest to visit the go-to restaurants of Puerto Princesa. The good thing though, its located 5 minutes near Robinson’s Mall.

Room

They gave us 2 rooms that are way far from each other. The rooms were okay, the pictures make this hotel look a lot better than expected but I guess that’s the case with most places. Room size is adequate for our family of four. The air conditioning is cold and provided a comfortable sleep for the 4 nights we stayed. Toilet and bath shows signs of ageing. Comfortable and neat beds. Wifi is very slow and sometimes not connecting in our room.

Breakfast/Dining

Demeter restaurant serves good variety of Western and Filipino choices buffet breakfast but not on dinner. We had dinner here on the first night from the A La Carte menu and it was not a good decision. Aside from the expensive price, the taste wasn’t that good. We also waited about 30 mins for our meals to arrive. I guess there was a lack of flavor to some dish. We also had a shabu shabu dinner which is extremely good at Habachi – a Japanese restaurant.

The pancake maker during breakfast was very talented.

Facilities

We love their open space lobby area with friendly and helpful staff. The pool is what you see in the pictures. It’s more beautiful in the evening since there are changing colored led lights around the pool. There are hourly airport shuttles that can take you to and from the airport that are complimentary when you booked through the hotel’s website. The Wifi was slow and I was only able to connect in certain parts of the room. The only place that it seemed to work was in the main lobby area and around the pool.

Staff and Service

The staff are really nice and show an effort to make you feel welcome. Everyone gives you a smile when they see you. After arrival, transfer was quick and their pickup was a large and comfortable coaster.

Price

We booked 1 superior premiere room and 1 family room through booking.com for 3 nights. Total cost including taxes and charges is PHP 23,430. It was an advanced booking promo so the rate is 15% discounted. This includes breakfast, round trip airport transfer, 10% off on all F&B except promotional activities, Wifi access and access to Voda Bar.

Aziza Paradise Facilities

Overall

Overall, we had a good stay at the hotel, a pity that our trip was short. We did not get to explore the hotel facilities much except a short swim at the pool. But location wise, great food and friendly staff – the Aziza Paradise hotel is a good option when staying in Puerto Princesa.

For reservations:

We recommend that you book with Booking.com as they offer a much cheaper price rather than the hotel’s website. Besides, the customer service of this company is superb!
