Cinnamon Restaurant, the international all day dining restaurant of The Cove Rotana Resort in Ras Al Khaimah UAE features a widespread and various choices of international buffet with an emphasis on Oriental cuisines. We managed to try the Friday brunch at Cinnamon during our weekend stay at the resort. After trying out several brunches in the UAE, I must say that we’re pretty surprise by the quality and selection of food. Here are the reasons why you should also try the brunch at Cinnamon.
1. Spacious Indoor Area, Kids Section and Outdoor Terrace
With its large indoor area with many seating, group of friends or families can relish the airy atmosphere. When the weather is bearable, you can opt to dine in their outdoor terrace, hear the sound of waves and enjoy the breeze of air and green surroundings. A separate section for kids is provided so parents can leisurely dine in without worrying the little ones.
2. Live Music Entertainment
Enjoy the food offerings while listening to the live music provided by Rotana. There we’re two beautiful singers accompanied by a pianist during the brunch. I like that their songs are a mix of classic and international songs. The level of sound was also perfect for a chill afternoon.
3. Live Cooking/Carving Stations
The brunch buffet extends over several counters. There are 5 live sections at Cinnamon brunch – meat carving, smoothie/juices, crepes and waffles and Japanese/sushi section. In the smoothie/juice section, apart from the ready-made juices like celery juice, beetroot orange juice, and common fruit juices, you can also ask your own mix! And if you don’t have an idea of what to ask, there’s a sign board where you can choose a smoothie for antioxidant, detox, or cure.
During our visit, my husband was glad to see his favorite sections. The variety of Japanese food for instance, was quite impressive with numerous types of rolls.
The separate section for roasts like grilled lamb chops comes with grilled vegetables on the side. If you’re overwhelmed to cut something up from the shelf of meat, worry not. You can ask the staff nearby to serve you a slice or two.
4. Widespread Cold Cuts/Seafood Section
The highlight of the Friday brunch here is undoubtedly the cold cuts and seafood section. A feature of the brunch is the extensive cold cuts selection with various salads – make your own salad or ready- made salad like – beetroot salad, mash potato, bourgul with tomato salad. It is well-stocked filled with various kinds of smoked meats, vegetables and dressing. Though not particularly a cheese person myself, I was amazed with the decadent selection of cheese available like smoked Carrigaline, Cashel blue, Cahills garlic & herb, goat cheese. Also, my husband’s favorite! Shawarma section – first time to see this section in a brunch.
5. Extensive Dessert Selection
Make sure to save some space for dessert as well. There are cakes, macaroons, mousses, cream puffs and tarts. Some of the choices: Tiramisu, Lemon Meringue Tart, Pistachio Panna Cotta with Lemon jelly, Mango Raspberry Panna Cotta, Passion Fruit Mousse, Dark and White Chocolate Mousse, Coffee Mousse Cake, Creme Brullee. My favorite would be the Arabic dessert Kullaj. Those seeking healthier alternatives would also be pleased to find a wide variety of fruits on offer.
6. Family Friendly with Kid’s Menu
The brunch is perfect for families with kids since there’s a dedicated section for them and I must say that it’s bigger compared to the other brunches we’ve experienced before. There’s an added entertainment of fun activities that will keep the little ones busy for hours with the guidance of the staff while the parents enjoy their meals.
7. Admirable Staff and Service
All staff at the restaurant were attentive and helpful. The area where we were seated had a dedicated staff that would promptly clear our plates, refill our glasses, and fold napkins and always coming over to us to check if everything was fine. When we started on our mains, our cutlery used for starters were instantly cleared and replaced. The Chefs and staff assigned on each station are very accommodating. They’re even game for photo ops! :p From the moment we entered until we stepped out of the restaurant, we felt very welcome. Thank you so much for a wonderful brunch experience!
All in all, the Friday brunch at Cinnamon lives up to Rotana’s reputation as one of the most impressive in the country. With a family friendly setting, live entertainment, spacious area, plenty of live stations, seafood/cold bar, extensive desserts, bread and cheese table accompanied by a great service – Friday brunch will never be the same for hearty-eaters. If you’re simply tired of the usual hotel buffets, this is definitely one to check out.
